As I type this, I’m kind of wishing I timed this better and included a YouTube video on how I apply my makeup, but I’ve already committed to this in my head so I’m just going to deliver this now and a video later. This is what happens when my brain fails me 😉
I’ve chatted with you guys in the past about my current makeup routine, but I’ve received many requests for an updated post about the products I’m using! So today I’m sharing what’s in current rotation in my makeup bag and some items I just can’t live without.
Primer. I always start with primer because my foundation stays on way longer than without. I rotate back and forth between two, but I’m currently using Benefit POREfessional which is an all time fave. I love that it essentially makes my skin look poreless and smooth, and isn’t greasy. A close second is Make Up Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer, which I have in a variety of formulas. I use the Hydrating version when my skin is extra dry, and the mattifying during the summer when my skin is a little oiler. Both are great choices!
Foundation. I’ve got three different foundations I’m currently rotating through, but Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation will always be an all time favorite. I’ve been using this for years and I love that it matches my skin perfectly. It also stays on ALL day and makes my skin look flawless. A very close second is Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Play Makeup. This is a little heavier of a coverage, yet doesn’t leave your skin cakey. I’m always amazed at how great my skin looks when I wear this foundation. I recently tried the NEW It Cosmetics Confidence in a Compact and I was super impressed! You guys have seen me snap about this recently, and I highly recommend. It’s very close in line with It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, which has been a favorite of mine when I want a little lighter coverage (especially in the summer).
Corrector. I always apply a corrector under my concealer. Most people suggest color correcting, but I’ve found a simple Maybelline Cover Stick Yellow Concealer does the trick. It’s cheap, effective, and I’ve been using it for years!
Concealer. I was a long time user of Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer, but switched to It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye a couple years back and now I’m hooked. It also has anti-aging properties which makes me feel like it’s better for my skin. A little goes a LONG way, and I’ve been using the same tube for a very long time! The price point is also a little better.
Translucent Powder. I always like to set my foundation and concealer with a translucent powder, and Too Faced Primed & Powerless Loose Powder has been a favorite for quite some time (my mom introduced me to it!) I also really like It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Poreless Finish Airbrush Powder. Both give a flawless finish and set my makeup all day. It also avoids any caking of my concealer!
Brows. My eyebrows are mircobladed, but as they’ve started to fade I need to pencil them in just a bit. I love Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz because I can create feather light hair strokes to avoid a fully penciled in look. I also like It Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil, but because it’s thicker it’s hard to get that hair stroke look.
Eyeshadow. I keep my shadow simple for my daily look, and simply apply a skin-toned shadow all over my eyelid to my brow bone to smooth things out. I’m currently using Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Foxy. I line my top and bottom lash line with Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Darkhorse for a smudged/lightly smokey look.
Eyeliner. I’ve used L’Oreal Infalliable Gel Liner in Espresso for YEARS and I swear nothing compares. I lightly line my top lash line with it and then go over it with the Urban Decay Darkhorse shadow. I also line my top and bottom water line with Makeup Forever Aqua XL Waterproof Eyeliner. It stays ALL day!
Bronzer. I like a bronzer that isn’t super orange, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess is perfect for my skin tone. It also stays all day, which is a double bonus.
Blush. I’m SO PICKY with blush, but I absolutely love Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The Confession. I’m so sad that MAC discontinued my absolute favorite blush color (Cubic), so I had to find something new. A little goes a long way, too!
Mascara. You guys know that It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MASCARA EVER. I’ve yet to find anything compare! This is what you see me wearing all the time, and it’s my most asked question on social media! I’m also obsessed with this eyelash curler!
Applicators. I’ve used a BeautyBlender for quite some time now and I’ll always love the application of it. But lately I’ve been switching back and forth with my Artis Oval 8 Brush for foundation. It applies super smooth and easily, and cuts down on my application time. I also recently tried the new It Cosmetics Heavenly Skin-Smoothing Complexion Brush #704 and I’m really impressed with how well it applies! I highly recommend this one, guys! To clean my brushes and BeautyBlender, I’ve been using BeautyBlender Solid Cleanser.
For lips, I use a variety of products and I’m always switching things on and off. I only wear lipstick and gloss when I go out or take photos, which isn’t all that often! But I’ll work on a post in the future on my go-to lip colors coming from the gal that hates lipstick.
