Home // Spring Cottage Dining Room March 22, 2017
A few weeks ago I had a sudden urge to remove all signs of winter from my home and spruce up the place a bit. Sometimes, after things have been the same for awhile, I just feel the need to switch it up. Maybe it means moving things in and out of different rooms or selling an old piece of furniture to replace with a new piece. Shopping the house is always the first place I start, selling things being second. Today I’m sharing our spring cottage dining room with you and talking a little about the updates we made!
One of the biggest changes we made was switching out our sideboard. The piece that was previously here was a favorite of mine, but it held no storage whatsoever and I really needed a larger piece to accommodate all of my dinnerware and linens I’ve acquired over the years. A creative friend of mine refinished this antique sideboard in the most gorgeous shade of a gray-white I’ve ever seen. she distressed it in all the right places, and even added some legs on it for me to lift it up a bit higher than it’s original size. I plan on switching out the hardware, but I haven’t found anything suitable just yet. For now, the gold hardware stays. I love it!
Another update was the change out of our rug. I love the look of jute rugs, but I was SO tired of the shedding! This one in particular became really bad, I’m thinking because it’s a high traffic area. It was horrendous and I swept/vacuumed DAILY. Safavieh was kind enough to send us this stunning Stone and Navy rug that immediately brightened up the entire room. I feel like the room is bigger and brighter, and it’s made me want to change out the rug in the living room as well! I love how this rug looks against our rustic table and industrial chairs.
I like to keep things really simple and clean for spring, so I switched out some greenery and kept the table centerpiece really minimal and unique with this pieces from Magnolia. Landon loves helping fill up the water in each test tube!
I love the simple look of this room, and how much brighter it is with the addition of our new rug! It’s actually inspired me to update our living room rug as well, so stay tuned for that.
I hope you enjoyed our spring cottage dining room!
